Learn how to install and configure Slack integration with Formalize
Overview
Formalize offers a native integration with Slack that enables sending notifications to channels in Slack when an action has been completed in Formalize.. Here we'll walk through the installation process, as well as look at configuring a practical use case scenario.
How to install the Slack integration
To begin, you'll first need to request the Slack integration.
- Navigate to Settings > API and Integrations. From there you'll find Slack in the list of available integrations. Click on Learn more in the Slack section to go to the Slack integration details page.

- On the Slack integration details page you'll now click on Request installation.

- In the pop-up window, click on Request access.

- The system will display a notification that your request to install the integration has been sent to our team. Installation requests are typically approved within 1 - 2 business days.

* Until the request has been approved you'll see Request pending on the Slack integration details page. If after 2 business days the request has yet to be approved, please send an email to support@formalize.com. - Once the request has been approved by one of our team members you'll see the option to install the integration. Now you may click on Install on the Slack integration details page.

- On the following pop-up page you'll be prompted to authorize the integration via your Slack account. Click on Authorize.

- You'll be redirected to Slack review app permissions. Click on Allow.

- Once the credentials are verified you should see that the integration has been successfully connected! Click on OK.

You should now see the Slack integration has been successfully installed!
How to use the Slack integration
With the Slack integration successfully connected you are now able to automatically send a message to the connected Slack workspace when a new resource or object has been created or updated in Formalize. This may be accomplished by following the steps outlined below.
- Here we create an automation that is set to trigger when a new Task is created. We then create an action configured to send a message to Slack.
- Then select the channel in Slack and compose a message. You may use system variables such as "ID" and "Name" to include in the message.

Once the automation has been enabled and saved, a message will be sent to Slack when a new Task is created in Formalize.
