Overview
The Statistics module allows you to create dashboards that serve as dynamic, real-time overview pages. By combining key data from multiple modules within Formalize, you can build customized dashboards that provide a clear view of your organization’s compliance and operational health.
This consolidated perspective enhances visibility, making it easier to recognize trends, detect emerging issues, and make informed decisions from a single interface.
How to Add a New Dashboard
Navigate to Insights > Statistics
Click the Add dashboard button.
Choose your preferred creation method:
Create from scratch: This creates a completely empty dashboard. Give the dashboard a name and click Create from scratch.
Create from template: We provide several preconfigured dashboards tailored to specific use cases. Select the template that fits your needs and click Create from template. (Note: You can always edit these templates later).
Widget Types
A widget is a small, configurable visual element that displays a specific piece of information. Each widget focuses on one type of data or insight.
Available widgets:
Text: A static text block with a headline and body copy. You can format the text and embed documents, images, or videos.
Risk matrix: Visualizes risk areas using a heat map to highlight potential issues and their severity.
Graph: Creates dynamic visual charts. Once you select the Graph widget, you can choose a specific sub-type:
Line chart: Displays data points connected by a line to show trends over time.
Single number: Displays a single total value matching your specified criteria. Clicking the number reveals a detailed list of all the specific items that make up that total.
Table: Displays a list of elements in a structured grid, similar to the standard Resources modules.
Pie chart: Displays data as slices of a circle to visualize proportions.
Bar chart: Compares values across different categories using vertical bars.
Waffle chart: Represents data using a grid of small circles to show portions of a whole.
Radar chart / Spider chart: Shows multiple variables on a circular, web-like chart to compare elements across several criteria at once.
How to Create and Configure a Widget
Step 1: Select the Widget Type
Open the specific dashboard tab where you want to add the widget.
Click Add widget.
Select your desired widget type (Text, Graph, Single number, Table, or Risk matrix).
Step 2: Configure the Data Settings
Follow the specific prompts on your screen based on your chosen widget type:
For Text Widgets: Enter your desired text into the box, apply any formatting, and click Create.
For Graph Widgets: Enter a name for the widget, select your graph sub-type (e.g., Pie chart), and configure the following data fields:
Source: Select which Formalize module the widget should pull information from.
Add filters (Optional): Define exact conditions to restrict the data shown.
Group by: (Available for Pie, Bar, Radar, and Waffle charts). This setting determines how your data is sorted into distinct categories.
Apply custom colors: This option pulls colors directly from your chosen single/multiple select fields. (Prerequisite: You must first assign colors to the field options within your Custom Fields settings for this to work. Otherwise, the chart will use the default color palette).
Series name & Series metric: (Radar charts only). Select the specific criteria you want to compare (e.g., Minimum, average, maximum, or count of elements).
Step 3: Save and Resize
By default, the widget appears at the bottom of the dashboard. To change its size, hover over the widget, click and hold the resize handle (the diagonal lines in the bottom-right corner), and drag to adjust.
Editing or Deleting Dashboards and Widgets
To edit a widget: Hover your cursor over the specific widget on your dashboard and click Edit on the top right.
To delete a dashboard: Click the three dots (Options menu) on the specific dashboard's tab in the top navigation bar, and select Delete.
